Groww: staged rollout

Groww had begun adding US stocks by 29 September 2026, with all users due to get them “over the next month” (Free Press Journal, citing Moneycontrol); no completion was announced by 19 October.

Zerodha: public web beta

Zerodha announced a public beta on kite-beta.zerodha.com at 11:55 am IST on 19 October 2026; withdrawals were promised “within 2 days”. Its product page says “live now”, offers systematic investment plans (SIPs) and includes regulatory fees in brokerage; its announcement and guide, followed here, list the IFSCA fee separately and SIPs as upcoming. Funding: net banking from HDFC, ICICI, IDFC FIRST, Axis or Kotak, up to three working days.

Angel One: Vested now, GIFT City pending

Angel One’s US-stocks page still says “Powered by Vested”; its 15 October 2026 results reported GAP authorisation, with no launch date. One disclaimer cites the “IFSCA Global Access route”, but with no GIFT City pricing published, this article treats it as pending.

Upstox: live since 7 September

Upstox charges US$0 for deposits and withdrawals, and says both typically take 3–5 business days.

Frequently asked questions

How do I buy US stocks in Groww?

Open US stocks in the Groww app, finish onboarding, add money by net banking under LRS and buy from US$1. No option? The rollout may not have reached you.

Does Zerodha allow US stocks?

Yes: a public web beta since 19 October 2026, for resident individuals only, at 0.1% brokerage (max US$10) plus GST and the IFSCA fee.

Do I need a separate demat account?

No. US shares sit with the US broker (Alpaca for Groww and Upstox, ViewTrade for Zerodha), not your Indian demat.

Is it safe to buy US stocks through these apps?

Legal under LRS, but market and currency risks are yours; SIPC covers up to US$500,000 if the US broker fails, not market losses; IFSC exchange investor protection excludes Global Access.
